DVDS - NEW RELEASES

These Super-folks have been around forever and have certainly aged well. In fact, they look younger now then when I followed their exploits 40 years ago. Not on DVDs, of course - the concept didn't exist yet. Instead it was the monthly comic book which DC or Marvel Comics published each month. Each issue cost all of 12 cents which I didn't always have at the ready. I couldn't buy EVERY comic book I wanted no more than I could buy every candy bar I craved. However, I did have my favorites and these 5, Batman, Superman and Spider Man, Flash & The Fantastic 4 were high on my favorites list.

Batman & Superman were published by DC Comics, Marvel had Spider Man in it's stable of superheroes. The two competing companies (the only comic publishers that counted at the time unless you wanted to include Archie), were quite different in philosophy.

DC superheroes included the indestructible Superman and the earnest, straight-shooting Batman. Marvel's stable contained a more diverse set of characters, many with very ordinary human troubles in addition to whatever superpowers that they were endowed with.

DC Comics kept your interest for awhile, but Marvel Comics with their subplots developed around the heroes' quirks, were far more captivating.

Of course, now with the advances in cinematography and some artistic license applied, you wouldn't recognize the superguys and supergals that I remember from childhood.
